Global Choices
In these times of global uncertainty, climate change is becoming a bigger focus than ever to ensure a safe future for generations to come. The question is, could your choice in purchasing a piano play a role in helping the planet?
In these times of global uncertainty, climate change is becoming a bigger focus than ever to ensure a safe future for generations to come. The question is, could your choice in purchasing a piano play a role in helping the planet?
Here at The Derbyshire Piano Workshop, we specialise in the restoration of quality pianos that have been with us for sometimes as long as 100 years. They have been appreciated by many generations, being handed down within families for many years. In the production of these vintage pianos, the wood was cut down, the iron cast and the steel rough. Unfortunately, in some cases ivory was sadly used, however that was long ago.
Unfortunately, the mass production of new pianos can have an adverse impact on our planet. Deforestation, metal casting, plastic production and truly global shipping are all factors that can be a result of newly manufactured pianos. Even if just one buyer out of the 5,000 who buy a newly manufactured piano in the UK each year makes the decision to invest in a restored vintage piano, then we can help reduce the impact on our future planet.
